1952 Sydney – Hobart Race

17 vessels  started the 1952 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

The vessels were Fortuna, Kintail, Kurrewa III, Kurura ,Landfall, Moonbi, Nirvana, Nocturne, Pavana ,Ripple, Ruthean, Solveig, Terra Nova, Wanderer, White Cloud, Wraith of Odin, and Ingrid.

Nocturne was line honors winner and is the smallest boat at 36ft to ever achieve the award. Ingrid won on corrected time. Results table here

The last article of this period cited in the National Library comes from the Mercury of 13th January 1953.

It is a letter to the editor (pg4)  from Brian O’Brien expressing appreciation to Hobart for the hospitality shown to Wraith of Odin and her crew.
